STEP INTO A DREAM IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Reece Whitby MLA
MINISTER FOR TOURISM
On behalf of the Western Australian Government, I look forward to welcoming players, officials and basketball fans to Perth for HoopsFest 2026. Following the excitement of last year's inaugural HoopsFest, we re proud to be hosting Australia's biggest basketball festival once again as we continue to establish Western Australia s reputation as a hub for major sporting events.
We are delighted to welcome NBL and WNBL teams from across the nation, as wellas the many out-of-state fans who will travel to WA to cheer on their favourite players over two weekends of sporting action and immerse themselves in the four-day fanfestival, which includes Australia’s largest sneaker culture festival, Sneakerland. We are thrilled to see the addition of the new HoopsFest Cup at this year’s festival, which will give open-age players from around Australia the chance to join in on the action.
January is a fantastic time to visit Perth, with the beautiful weather complemented by a stacked summer of events. Whilst here, I invite visitors to explore our vibrant capital city’s variety of entertainment and dining options; enjoy the natural beauty of the Swan River; discover the stunning flora found in one of the world’s biggest inner-city parks, Kings Park; and visit our many pristine beaches.
Just a short trip from Perth, Fremantle is the historic maritime city that’s brimming with character. Linger a little longer and soak up its coastal charm and vibrant energy, or hop over to Rottnest Island to meet the world’s happiest animal - the quokka. I also encourage visitors to extend their trip into our stunning regions - the South West with its towering forests and world-class wineries, the turquoise beaches and bays dotted along our Coral Coast, and the fascinating history and heritage of the Goldfields. Best of luck to all this year’s competitors, and enjoy your stay in Western Australia.
